The Catalog tab allows you to make some very important decisions for your product pages & category pages. 

Overview

If you are at the WSM Catalog Account level or higher, you will have access to this tab in your system configuration. It is best to have at least a few categories, products, and brands set up in your site so that you can test the adjustments that you are putting in place.

Steps

Complete the following to access this tab in Web Shop Manager.

  1. Log into Web Shop Manager
  2. Hover over System
  3. Click on Configuration
  4. Click on the Catalog tab

Form Fields Defined

Below is a list of each field on the Catalog tab. 

 

Catalog
*Display Item #Determines which product ID field(s) is used on the frontend of your site, in your orders, and in OIC . The default is the WSM system generated ID, however many clients that specify either a Stock ID or Dealer ID prefer to set this select box to one of those options. If you select an option that contains a "-" between two types of IDs, then both will be used in that order with the "-" between them.
*Google Base Feed Item #This determines which product field to use as the ID in your Google Base Feed. 
Item Number ListWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected, the above selected item number(s) will be displayed in the category, brand, and search result lits of products. *Please note this field is currently under construction and will not effect your site in either way. 
Product/Category CountWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected the number of products and/or subcategories in a parent category will be displayed. Please note that if you have a large amount of categories this could cause your navigation to be slower. 
Enhanced Catalog LayoutWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected, additional information regarding Categories and Products will be displayed on the Category List View. This additional information may include product descriptions, product availability, product condition, product tag and an "Add to Cart" button for each product listed. When disabled (default setting), only Category and Product names are displayed. Most clients prefer to Enable this feature as it is a benefit for SEO reasons. 
Product SortAllows you to specify the default sort order for all Brand and Category pages on your site. Note: Best Match will always be the default for the Search page.
To enable this feature please contact Customer Experience: support@webshopmanager.com  When enabled a Quickview of the product are presented when the Image of the product is selected. Customer to remain on the page and not be redirected automatically to the cart.

Allowing the customer to remain on the page and not be redirected automatically to the cart. To enable this feature 

When enabled "New" text will appear on products added with the the number of days specified in the "

New Product Flag Days ActiveThe number of days (form the added date) a product qualifies as "New".

Advanced Guided Search sites only: When enabled your customer will be redirected to the Product Series page if the attributes selected are not valid for the current product. This is used to help avoid purchasing the wrong product but would limit access to product pages. To enable this feature please contact Customer Experience: support@webshopmanager.com

This enables to display nearly valid coupons with requirements on product and product list pages. 
*Product Page ViewProduct Page View controls the display options for your product pages. Tabbed will format your additional information such as Extended Description, Details, Shipping, Reviews, Videos, etc in a horizontal view. Default will display this information in a Vertical View.
Inquiry ButtonWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected a Product Inquiry button will be displayed on the product details page. When a customer clicks on this button they will get sent to a basic Inquiry Form with the Product # prepopulated for them, they will then be asked some contact information and can send a request for more information. You can always edit the Inquiry Form that they are sent to.
Tell-a-Friend ButtonWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected a Tell A Friend button will be displayed on the product details page. When a customer clicks on this button, they will be prompted to create an account and can then enter a 'friends' email addres to send product information to.
Cross Sell CountThe field controls the number of items to display for cross-selling on the product page only. If this field is empty or set to 0, cross selling will be disabled. Learn more about the Cross Sell Feature
Customer ReviewsWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected registered customers will be allowed to post product reviews to the catalog. When a new Review is submitted, an email will be sent to the email address in the Site Information tab. Reviews will need to be moderated by staff before they become publicly visible. 
Product Image Display

This drop down controls the first Product image's display style on your product details page. Please see the section below for detailed description of each product image display option.

Image Enlarge

On click of the medium size image and additional image thumbnails, a lytebox will populate the screen and show an enlarged image with the image caption underneath it.

Slideshow + Image Enlarge

Medium size product image will rotate in 2 second intervals between additional product images. On click of the medium size image and additional image thumbnails, a lytebox will populate the screen and show an enlarged image with the image caption underneath it.

Image Swap + Image Enlarge

Medium size product image will stay static and change on click of the additional image thumbnails. On click on additional images thumbnails, the medium size image will swap to the selected image. On click of the medium size image, a lytebox will populate the screen and show an enlarged image with the image caption underneath it. 

Slideshow + Image Swap + Image Enlarge

Medium size product image will rotate in 2 second intervals between additional product images. On click on additional images thumbnails, the medium size image will swap to the selected image. On click of the medium size image, a lytebox will populate the screen and show an enlarged image with the image caption underneath it.

Outer Zoom

Medium size product image will stay static and change on click of the additional image thumbnails. On hover of the medium size image, a side zoom box will flyout to the left of the medium size image. Inside this flyout will be the full size image. On move of the cursor over the medium size image, the zoom box will move in tandem to show the user a closer look of the selected image area.

Outer Zoom with Soft Focus

Medium size product image will stay static and change on click of the additional image thumbnails. On hover of the medium size image, a side zoom box will flyout to the left of the medium size image. Inside this flyout will be the full size image. On move of the cursor over the medium size image, the zoom box will move in tandem to show the user a closer look of the selected image area. Lastly, the medium size image will have a soft focus appearance when the user hovers over the medium size image. This is a nice effect for a boutique look.

Inner Zoom

Medium size product image will stay static and change on click of the additional image thumbnails. On hover of the medium size image, a zoom box will replace medium size image. Inside this zoom box will be the full size image. On move of the cursor, the zoom box will move in tandem to show the user a closer look of the selected image area.

Product Brand ImageWhen the Enabled checkbox is selected the brand image will be included as if it were another image on the product page, as well as included in the product page slideshow when enabled.
Default ConditionThis drop down allows you to control the Default product condition when additional products are added to your site. This is a very powerful tool if you are store that sells mostly Used or Refurbished products. 

Saving

Each time you edit the information on your Site's Configuration, it is important that you click the Save Changes button before navigation to another menu option in Web Shop Manager. Note: you can be on any tab on the System's Configuration screen when you click Save Changes and it will save the changes on all tabs.
